Lyn

I will dedicate this page to Lyn.

Some very sad news last week.

Lyn passed away very suddenly at her home in Regina. Jennifer phoned me to tell me the news and it was a shocker to say the least.

Over the last several years, her health had been deteriorating and she had lost some feeling in her arm and moved from her home into a residence. She had been recovering quite will and had just a few days earlier been baby sitting our grand daughter Kenzie.

Most of you will remember her as being the lady behind the scenes...she never liked the spotlight but would faithfully work to get things done. She often did not get the credit she deserved. It was also her way with her illness. She often suffered in silence and would not let anyone know just how ill she was. She did that right up until the end. Even I did not know how serious the problems were. She did not want anyone to feel sorry for her and pity her. She was tougher than most people give her credit for. She deserved a better fate.

My friend Reg here in Beijing has a saying he uses "there is no good time for bad news" and this is some of the worst you can get. Even though we had parted a few years earlier, we had remained as friends. I saw her several times when I was back in Regina, Christmas probably being the last time. She was still a proud mother and grandmother and was still maintaining her dignity.

It will be different going home this time knowing that part of your family history has been taken away. However, the memories will always be there.

I feel the loss and as Jaxon and I sing and it is so true " There's a hole in the world tonight" But she will always be in our hearts.
